Winter Season 2018/2019

The winter season will take place October 1 - January 31

We are so excited for a fun, skill filled Winter Training Season! It is important that we are always learning and having fun. This winter TVTC is bringing a new format to help improve your running/swimming. We will continue to have a dedicated run season that culminates with a half/full marathon. For the swim, we will focus on building your technique and comfort.


The run season will focus on 2 things: 1) building your speed/endurance and 2) improving your form. By the end of the season you will be trained to complete a half or full marathon.

This winter TVTC's run season will culminate with the Kaiser Half Marathon on February 3 and Napa Valley Marathon on March 3*.

* Will continue running focus, as well as layer bike and swim for recovery when Tri Season begins in February.

Training Schedule
  • Coached long runs roughly every other Saturday 9 - 11 am.
  • Coached Saturday runs will be twice per month. Check the calendar for specific dates/locations.
  • Training Plan delivered through Training Peaks October through January.
  • October and January weekly track workouts with Coach Francisco
  • November and December “strength and form bootcamps” at the Fit Potato

This winter's swim program is designed to learn the fundamentals of each stroke with each clinic building on the previous ones.

What you Learn
  • Learn how to do all four competitive strokes correctly for form
  • Learn why doing other strokes is important
  • Learn how and when to use different swimming devices including paddles of different shapes and sizes, fins, and snorkels. Learn what each type of device is used for.
  • Improve overall form for injury prevention
  • Improve speed/endurance
  • Watch video of world class swimmers swimming freestyle
  • Fundamentals of swimming to set you up for Tri Season!
