Triathlon Season 2017


Register for Triathlon Season, Annual, or Monthly Membership!

Our triathlon season runs February - September. These 8 months are organized into different phases - base/aerobic, several build, taper and active recovery - which are designed to follow the coached team events schedule.

TVTC is the ONLY triathlon club in the Bay Area with a weekly coached swim workout included for FREE. That's right, you pay no entrance fees while receiving professional swim coaching.

Our 2017 Tri Season Kick Off is Thursday, January 5, 7:00 pm at Sports Basement, San Ramon.

As we enter our 8th year in 2017, TVTC was well overdue for an update and remodel. We have been working over the much needed and deserved break from practices to solidify plans. And we were excited to roll out these changes in Winter Season with much success!

Expect the same great programs and coaching, with the addition of updated programs utilizing our coaching and technology resources more fully to make systems more effective and efficient. Our TVTC 2.0 updates will help to sustain our programs into the future for our members, and help YOU grow as an athlete, perform better for longer, and find even more enjoyment in our "tribe" of triathletes. We're excited for the remodel, and what TVTC and you will do in 2017!

Coached Workouts

Attend as many of the 3-5 coached practices a week that your schedule allows. Coached practices are the place where we present all the information on form and fitness, and you can ask questions. At Coached workouts, we are here to teach and support you. We provide maps for coached rides and runs, workouts for swims, bikes, runs, and bricks, and SAG support where necessary. Also, it is easier and more fun to work out with people!

A typical week for coached practices during the tri season would look like:

Mon - strength through March, run or bike (depends on daylight) after March
Tue - swim (evening)
Wed - track workout (evening)
Sat - run, bike, swim (or some combination)
Sun - at least one Sunday coached workout per month, some months with two

Training Calendars through Training Peaks

All of our training calendars for the coming TVTC events are delivered through Training Peaks. Moving forward, all TVTC training calendars will be delivered through Training Peaks. In TP, you will see at least one month of detailed workouts based on your goal team race and incoming ability.

There is a 7-day a week training calendar (including a recovery/adaptation day each week) where you will have access to detailed workouts. You will do these workouts at either the Coached Practices, "On Your Own", or with people from the team. You will have the entire training plan, for at least a month ahead, so you can do things on your own more easily to keep up with the team.

Triathlon Season Training Calendars: We will have different levels of training calendars. You will be connected to the training calendar matching your event for that time in the season, experience and skill level, and goals. For Triathlon there will be 6 Training Plans to choose from at each phase of the Tri Season:

  • Sprint Level 1
  • Sprint Level 2
  • Olympic Level 1
  • Olympic Level 2
  • Half Ironman Level 1
  • Half Ironman Level 2

Each member will be connected to only one calendar at a time. ‚Äč

Monthly Focus Email

All members will receive monthly focus emails laying out focus and essential info for the month. The monthly email will include a list of upcoming races and events for the team, the focus for the month, relevant updates about the team, and education on gear, nutrition, transitions, phases of the season, setting patterns, and other relevant topics. With training plans and detailed workouts now delivered through Training Peaks, as well as those new to the team joining the "Welcome to the Team TVTC Experience Package", we no longer have the need for weekly information to everyone. Anyone "new to the sport" or new to TVTC is encouraged to take the "Beginner Package" to get you up to speed with the rest of the team.

The Members Only Facebook page is where members post where and when they are doing their On Your Own or other group workouts. Likewise, this is where you can post and invite your TVTC fellow members to train with you. Coaches also post important club announcements on the FB Members Only Page.

Personal TVTC Account

By becoming a member of TVTC you create a personal TVTC website account. With this account you can...

  • Update your personal goals, medical and other forms
  • Access all the race discount codes and other members only discount info
  • Keep track of your benchmark sets
